Veterans Fair aims to help service members

The annual East Bay Veterans Fair, organized to provide veterans, service members and their families access to needed information and benefits, takes place Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the main ballroom at the Concord Hilton, 1970 Diamond Blvd.

The fair, a cooperative effort of several agencies that provide services to veterans and their families, is also where veterans fresh from active duty get a welcome back and help in making the transition from active military to civilian life.

Hundreds of veterans, including returning service members from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, are expected to join community residents and leaders, representatives from public and private universities, employers, elected officials and members of fraternal, community and veterans service organizations. There also will be a Red Cross blood drive.

Designed to serve all veterans and active-duty military from the greater Bay Area, the event is free. For more information, go to www.eastbayveteransfair.org.

We got to Merced to find 145 motorcycles (should have been 147) all lined up and everyone gathered in the parking lot and milling around the store. Merced Powersports had a very nice inventory for those of you looking.
