Search Inbox for Shared Pages

SPOT Shared Page Mobile is able to search and locate Shared Page links sent by the SPOT system to your email address. Use the “Search Inbox” feature to find then import them into your list of managed pages. No need to remember the Shared Page Id or type it in – the work is done for you.

What about Shared Page links not sent by the SPOT system but forwarded to by family or friends? Easy, SPOT Shared Page Mobile is able to import any Shared Page link sent to you in an email. Open up the email in the BlackBerry email tool then use the custom “Import SPOT Shared Page” option to import the Shared Page into your list of managed pages.

Viewing Messages

SPOT Shared Page Mobile supports all Shared Page message types; Check-In, Custom, Help & Track. Messages are partitioned by day for easy viewing. Select any message to get detailed message information.

SPOT Shared Page Mobile provides refresh and paging options for shared pages with many GPS locations and also supports pages with multiple SPOT devices on them.

Detailed Message Viewing

Not only does SPOT Shared Page for mobile show the name, esn, type & message content (if available) but it also calculates the distance, speed, time and bearing between GPS locations. At a glance find out if a SPOT messenger is moving and how fast.

Google Maps Integration

SPOT Shared Page Mobile automatically detects if Google Maps is installed and uses it to display single GPS locations. Google Maps mobile allows you to show SPOT GPS locations on both regular and terrain based maps.

If you choose to show all GPS locations on the page, SPOT Shared Page Mobile displays them directly in BlackBerry Maps. The rumored BlackBerry Storm 2

As if June wasn’t packed enough with new smartphone launches, there are rumors that the RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 may just hit Verizon Wireless stores in the same month.

BlackberryOS.com says it received a tip from an “insider” (a senior-level Verizon employee, apparently) who says Verizon has been training its tech support on the Storm 2 all week and that they’ve been told to be ready to support the smartphone by the end of May. Though the tipster could not give a specific release date, she said it would be out by the end of June at the latest.

The next-generation Storm was confirmed by RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie in early May, though he did not provide much information about the device. There’s some speculation that the new Storm will forgo the SurePress touch screen and will have Wi-Fi.

Perhaps Verizon was feeling a little left out of the party with Sprint’s Palm Pre launch and the imminent iPhone announcement. And while hope springs eternal that the BlackBerry Storm 2 will be better than the first, what does this mean for current BlackBerry Storm customers?

I just hope my company will adopt it.

Delivering on its promise, Google released a new mobile application on Wednesday that brings its Voice Search feature to BlackBerrys, much like it did for the iPhone and Android-based T-Mobile G1.

The Google Mobile App is available now as a free download and allows you to conduct searches with the sound of your voice. To do so, you simply hold down the Talk button on your BlackBerry and then speak your search term into the phone. Brits, you’ll also be happy to hear that the app now supports British English accents.

Perhaps even more powerful, the app also includes support for Google’s My Locations feature, which brings up search results based on your location as determined by your BlackBerry’s GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular triangulation.

Other enhancements include shortcuts to several Google services, such as Gmail, Maps, News, and Reader. To get Google Mobile App on your BlackBerry, you can point your phone’s browser to http://m.google.com or enter your mobile number here. Be aware that the app requires you have to have BlackBerry OS 4.1 or higher and BlackBerry OS 4.2 or higher for Voice Search.
